How to Add Spoiler Tags on Discord Messages
There are several ways you can add spoiler tags to text messages you send in a Discord server. You can follow the steps below on any platform, including the mobile apps for Android, iPhone, or iPad.
Method 1: How to Add Spoiler Tags on Discord Messages Using Markdown
The traditional dual-pipes markdown function is still working on Discord servers to hide messages. If you want to add spoiler tags to text messages, you can add two vertical bars on either side of the text you want to hide.

To add these vertical bars, you can simply press Shift + Back Slash. As an example, you can type your message between ||these bars||, it will hide the part this part of message. If you want to hide the entire message, then you can add these lines at the starting and ending of the complete message.
Method 2: How to Add Spoiler Tags on Discord Messages Using Slash
If you’re using discord for a long time, then you may know that there are a bunch of Slash commands in discord. And the /Spoiler is one of the best built-in spoiler commands which users can use to type spoiler text messages in the Discord server.

If you don’t want to use the vertical bars to add a spoiler tag, then the other best way is the Slash Commands. You can type /Spoiler in the front of your message to send it as a spoiler. It’s one of the easiest ways to spoiler text in discord.
Fortunately, this method is working across all devices – Desktop, Android, iOS (iPhone or iPad), Mac, and other platforms.
Method 3: How to Add Spoiler Tags on Discord Messages Using Popup bar
If you’ve ever tried to style your messages on Discord, then you must know about the popup bar feature. The feature allows users to style their messages, send it as a quote, preformat the news, or even turn a message into a spoiler in a single click or tap, depending on the device you’re using.

To add a spoiler tag to a discord message using a popup bar, you can type a message, and then you can use your mouse to select the text; once done, you will see a popup bar with a bunch of options. Tap on the last option (which is an eye icon) to hide the message.
This feature is available in the Desktop (including Windows and Mac) app, website, and iPhone and iPad. The best thing about the popup bar is that you can even hide a small part of the message with just a single click.
To view the spoiler message, both the sender and recipients can tap on the grey box. After tapping, the message will appear in the front of grey colored background.
How to Add Spoiler in Discord Images and Attachments
You can also add spoiler tags to images or other attachments you send in a Discord server. The methods above won’t work for this sort of content, but you can mark files and pictures as spoilers before uploading them.
Unfortunately, you can only add spoiler tags to images or attachments you send via the Discord website or in the app for Windows or Mac—they aren’t supported in the mobile apps.
Do this in the Discord desktop app or on the website, drag and drop your file into the server chat, or click the plus sign (+) next to the chat bar.

A preview of your attached file will appear before it’s sent in the chat.
Select the “Mark as Spoiler” checkbox to hide the image or file after it’s sent, and then click “Upload.”

After it’s sent, the image or file will appear in Discord behind spoiler tags. You can tap “Spoiler” to disregard the spoiler view and inspect the file.
